There is still fiery hatred coursing through my veins because of this fuckery. I’ve tried hard to keep my feelings for the books and show separate but Ball crossed the fucking line with his SDCC bullshit. He’s living in some fucking fantasy world and I tell you what I am this close to not even watching this shit anymore. The “2nd half of Season 3″ trailer looks like it’s in some kind of Alan Ball crazyland parody of SVB. Honestly what is the point if things aren’t going to have any resemblance whatsoever to the books. Yeah sure stray a little bit if you need to. But Bill as Sookie’s soulmate/HEA? Fuck. And yes yes I know, if I don’t like it I can turn it off but a piece of my fangirl heart broke this weekend, y’all. The End.

Thanks for that I love my Sunday Skars and you are definitely right Eric will always be King. Sometimes I start doubting myself whether or not I’m imagining how popular Eric is on True Blood and then old Alan comes out with one of his stupid comments and it seems as usual he has upset and dismayed more people then he has made happy.
One thing I will give Mr. Ball credit for is his perseverance on sticking with his beloved Bill and Sookie to the bitter end. It doesn’t matter how much a large section of the fans, the neutrals and the critics hate the two of them together he just doesn’t care.
After the last episode aired with the reunion of Bill and Sookie supposedly the main plot point in the show but what did one of the biggest entertainment web sites do a post about? Eric and his blue sweater says it all really.

If only the fans of Eric/ASkars understand that AB only has the power they give him through the raitings, the story would begin to shift very, very different. There are plenty of sites where people can watch a live stream of the episodes, watch them the next day, and even to download them.
People just need to ask themselves what would happen if they give an unpredictable blow that suddenly drop the ratings in a DRAMATIC way, if only for two days. Because I’m completely convinced that AB will crap in his pants, because HBO will demand an explanation and ammendments to stop the situation.
Even when HBO isn’t a “democracy”, they indeed utterly depend on their viewers. In the televi$ion bu$ine$$, the rating$ mean$ ALL. And this is what is really know as the power of the people in their own language…

I hope most people are feeling a little better after this weekends mess. I saw the vid myself and after watching it, I feel much better. The fan asking the question brought up the word soul mates, and I’m gonna JUST remember his last words of him saying that he doesn’t know if they will work it out. True love was never said, genuine feelings was used. So I’m holding on to the fact that I don’t think they will work it out and that all is not well.
I know tonight will probably be bad, so I’m preparing for the worst and hoping for the best. Even if best means having to wait another episode. I think a lot of Eric fans will be watching the show tonight with quite a few drinks in them, bring on the alcohol.
I feel much better about it today.. Thanks Dee for pointing it out AB didn’t iniate the words ‘soul mates.’ I think that makes a major difference.
I really hope AB comes thru soon and delivers us some bonafide Sookie and Eric action. I’m repeating myself but I really love TBEric for what he is.. and I think AB will get to where we want him to go with Eric eventually and validate the love we all have for him, nevertheless this Koolaid aftertaste is still pretty bitter.
I think it makes a difference too. If he answers no then he gives away what is currently happening. Question right now is whether Bill and Sookie will get back or will they break up, so you say the positive and then end it with a negative to soften the blow lol. He didn’t seem too confident that they would work it out. It’s like when you break up with somebody, you say I love you and truly care for you, I’ve had an amazing time, and then after the good stuff you say but i don’t think this will work out so I’m moving on lol. But before you end it, you know you have to leave the person with something good to hold onto and good memories and hope they won’t hate you lol.
AB is not stupid, he knows what is coming up on the show so why not say good things now. Kind of like hey I’m breaking them up but if it makes you feel better hold on to these words, at least you can know their feelings were real when they were together. Like I said yesterday how would we feel if AB said Eric and Sookie “I don’t know if they will work it out” we’d be freaking out and upset about that. BL’s are just focusing on the first part and not even thinking about the end of his sentence lol. Why are they ignoring it? Well it’s convenient isn’t it lol
Exactly he’s not going to say “Sookie and Bill are a car wreck waiting to happen, let’s see who gets thrown from the car and eats pavement first. Popcorn anyone?” -that would be wrong for a multitude of reasons; one being artistic freedom, he is not going to broadcast the plot and 2 it would spoil the fun we have with the BLs, they’d be even more pitiable.
But we also have this huge problem: SM has second billing. So, a lot of the story is being changed left and right to accommodate the role they chose for him (we deal with this same problem with Sam, Tara, Jason weekly). And as we well know AS is still a secondary cast member.

In fact AB didn’t talk about the ending of the series. He was only stating verbally and publicly who is, according to his story, the true love and soulmate of Sookie in TB. Because actually, the offical written statement of HBO/AB about what is this show about was publicly released to the press on last May. And it says the show is about the adventures of SS with his soulmate the vampire BC in a non distant future sup world. That offical statement must be the reason which triggered the question.
The one who made the comment that her books will end in a complete different way from the series because both worlds are very different was CH. And she was wise enough to do it, because she was protecting her original story and the books selling -and saying very clear that AB interpretation doesn’t follow at all the original story of her books.
And because she knew the impact of the consecuences that his declaration could have, not only over the show, but over her books as well.

I was been tempted to accept comfort from the submissions some have made that it was the interviewer, not AB, who first mentioned “soulmate”, but remembered it is the official line.

I would actually argue that the person who asked the question got the “soulmate” word from the official HBO propoganda – which has refered to “Sookie and her soul mate Bill” on more than one occasion.
I take no comfort from pulling apart the semantics any more.
I also take no comfort in thinking that he is trying to throw the BL’s a bone. WTF? Where the fuck is OUR bone, if that’s the game he’s playing and why the fuck do they need a bone anyway? They’re quite happy with the way things are going, thankyouverymuch.
It’s us that have been screaming for a “bone” since…well, FOREVER. If he’s trying to pacify anyone, it’s not them he should be worried about.
The last “bone” we got was when Ball said that E/S were fated last October at Paley. That’s a long time between drinks. And saying their coming together is “fated” is not the same as saying we are going to see their arc follow the books. For all we know, he could mean a temporary hook up..those are fated too.
It’s bullshit. He has strung book readers along by the nose for two and a half years now with vague hints that he is going to give us what we want and no one can tell me, based on that preview that we are going to see Eric and Sookie anywhere NEAR the place they were by the end of Club Dead.
And that means season 4 is FUCKED.
I sadly agree. Without the S/E from Club Dead, all the magic of Amnesia Eric is lost. If he can’t get AE right, I don’t want him to go there at all.
I completely agree. If AE is gonna get screwed up or twisted into something unrecognizable, I would much rather not see it at all. I don’t want to see the story of the short-haired brunette who Sookie hates. I want our Viking back!!! TB Eric has been destroyed too much already. I think my heart might break if AE was ruined.

I too give up on the show… Alan Ball is so disrespectful towards ALL Book Fans by altering every key plot point except a couple from season 1.
As a book series fan I am disappointed that I will NEVER get to see on the screen the many special and unique moments Charlaine created within her books. Eric was there for Sookie (except the end of DAG and being bound with silver chains is a good excuse)
HotScotSam is right – Alan Ball’s Sookie doesn’t deserve Eric.
Many of Charlaine’s characters were good, hard working people with honour vs AB trash. (Sam’s parents, Portia, Tara, Mrs Bellefleur, Calvin Norris just to name a few).

Now I’m way more worried about the episode, honestly… I know it will be painful to watch.
But Alan has used the words soulmates to describe Sookie and Bill over and over again. It’s actually not the first time he’s said this. He’s been saying from the beginning. Yes, he’s said E/S will happen, but he’s always said it in a cautious way. I’ll shut up because I know I’m a downer, but I truly believe he will always bring Sookie and Bill back together in a loving way. Even if next season we get AE/S in some way, it won’t last, Bill will always be there in the end. He believes they are the central couple he’s also said this over and over again. Sorry. If he didn’t want to give anything away, he would be like Charlaine who REFUSES to give anything away.

Gigi, I would agree but unfortunately with how they come up with the ratings, if we don’t watch they wouldn’t even know. I hate how ratings are done, but we are not one of the people with a neilsen ratings box that monitors what we watch, well I don’t know maybe someone on here is a participant. I wish they did come up with some better method, I hate the process.
They also go ALOT by DVD sales since it is also what brings money. That is why AB even said if you want the show to stay on tv, buy the DVD. Just this week, TB beat sales of Sopranos dvd set.
Dee, we do not need to have a neilsen rating box in our homes to monitor the raitings in order to know for sure the impact that it will do. Because neilsen isn’t the only way to measure raitings. What most people don’t know about this process is that HUGE networks also benefit from the information gathered by the use of certain software applications that have being developed to monitor cable TV and satellite TV operators with full PASSIVE and permissive viewer measurement functionality to monitor television channel ratings. The system tracks every time the channel is changed and records it accordingly. It allows what was being viewed at the time and which channel the viewer changed to. This information allows operators, broadcasters and advertising media to monitor audience TV usage habits, and also allows the networks to measure their programs raitings from pasive viewers, besides the traditional neilsen box who needs the active participation of the viewers. Also, I am sure that such a huge and multimillionaire network as is HBO doesn’t leave loose ends and have to be using the latest and most advance technology to monitor their viewers’ preferences.
Yeah the Neilsen device also monitors when people change the channel and logs every minute people watch tv. They have two ways of doing it, one is viewer diary, which people tell them what they watch and when. Then there is also the device that participants put in their homes, this is the one that will monitor your log every day and every night this information is sent to Neilsen headquarters. With the viewer diary they are handed in November, february, May which are sweeps months for that reason.
I know TIVO is also now monitoring what people watch to gather ratings. So if people who watch TB on their tivo, they can effect ratings.

Here is some info on it. Even with cable providers who are starting to do this such as Comcast, they don’t view every home that will have that service provider. I hope eventually all digital cable will be able to be monitored instead of doing select homes but all subscribed users

Gigi-just want to point out not debating what you say because I agree 100%. I despise Nielsen ratings and glad that cable companies are starting to get involved somewhat and they are testing new ways. It’s the reason why good shows like Arrested Development get canceled but stupid shows stay on the air. 25,000 televisions monitored out of 118 million tv sets in the US is ridiculous and it all comes down to educated guesses.
I do hope that they are using more methods and taking it all into consideration. I’d be happy if they got rid of nielsan completely and relied on just digital reads from all viewers.

I just also wanted to point out the fact that we can be sure that HBO has to be using the lastest tecnology in rating measurement, because the network gain actually relies and depends completely on their viewers preferences, and not in external publicity from sponsors (as the tv networks that are free).

ASkars I love you on this show but get out and now. After Season 4, you need to move onto something bigger and better. AB will f*cuk and have f*uck this royally over. CH can not be happy no matter what she says.
I’ve already ranted a lil about this, but i’ll comment a lil more on it. I’m not surprised AB made the Soulmate comment cuz he’s made it clear from the beginning who he prefers, an just looking at what we’ve seen so far its obvious he’s been pushing B/S. However im not gonna let his comments bother me cuz its all about what the majority of the Fans want, an most dont want B/S at this point. HBO is not gonna allow AB to continue to push B/S when most Fans aren’t Happy with them, an not move into another direction with who Sookie has Relationships with. I mean were not the only Fans that are Pissed about AB’s Soulmate comment. The neutral Fans, an Fans that wanna see Sookie with other Characters like Alcide aren’t Happy. I’ve been on other Sites today reading the comments about this, an the majority aren’t Happy. Most the Fans are feeling by AB making that statement that B/S is endgame on the Show, an no matter who Sookie may or may not hook up with its just a bump in the Road for her an Bill. Most are saying they feel like why would they wanna continue watching if we already know where its going? I have to say regardless of what AB wants that was a very stupid thing for him to say. I understand after watching the YouTube Video of Comic Con the Questioner used the word Soulmate, an he was just responding to it. However he shouldn’t of used that word regardless if thats how he feels cuz the majority dont care what he wants. I know when im watching a Show i dont care what others want i care what i wanna see. The problem is i feel like AB is trying to bully his way with B/S by continuing to push when i have no doubt he knows the majority dont want it. I think he’s one of those People who were sore losers, an dont wanna admit their own mistakes, or wrong doings. I’ve read to many comments he’s made especially after last Season ended where he was clearly Pissed when People would question him about B/S, an favor E/S. Also when he was asked about the Maenad debacle he got upset cuz he fucked up with last Season an he knows it. I thought he could’ve been more mature about it, an said we Writers made some mistakes, an were gonna try fixing that, an not making it again. I dont remember reading about him admitting to any mistakes, but if he did correct me if im wrong. I do feel to that cuz AB seems to be really close with Anna an Stephen that its part of the reason he’s pushing B/S so much. I also have felt in the past Anna gets attitudes about Fans wanting E/S to. I’ve seen her role her Eyes in Interviews when asked about E/S. I remember her attitude at Comic Con last Year when Alex got asked most the questions. I dont think Anna dislikes Alex, but i think cuz she’s with Stephen she wants her an Stephens Character to stay together. I’ve also seen Stephen diss the Eric Character saying basically his love is real with Sookie, but Eric’s is more like an infatuation. I’ve often felt like AB has told Anna an Stephen B/S is engame in his Show by how they act at times in Interviews. I think AB wanted to go there with E/S but not in the way we want. AB wanted E/S to be a once or twice thing then her get back with Bill. However from what im reading from the majority of Fans, an not just us Eric Fans either, but others is they dont wanna see B/S they are bored by them. I’ve seen non Eric Fans say after next Season if they dont see a change they may stop watching im sure HBO is paying attention. AB will keep pushing B/S as long as he can before HBO puts a stop to it an i think we’ve begun to see that with the Promos before this Season started. I’m not worried about the second half Promo cuz it looked like it was only for the next 2-3 Epi’s so what is happening after? makes you wonder. I like some others will see what i think after Season 4 then make my decision whether i’ll leave or not. I dont think the unhappy Fans should bow out yet give it till the end of Season 4 cuz i think that will be when will know for sure. Also the Audience response when he commented on Soulmates wasn’t very loud, an there were some booing, but when CH said its going differently in her Books the Audience response was much louder. I also heard someone who was their said some even gave a standing ovation for what CH said lol.
IMO the whole issue “Soulmates” in CC would not have much impact if it were not this way they describe the core of the show, is not it? Sookie and her soulmate Bill? If it were just for your answer I do not irritate me so much, but it is not. We are in S3 and it is clear to everyone that the nucleus is B / S and will not change. All I wanted was a level playing field between the characters, AS should be elevate the main character and have your name in the first places along the SM and AP. Period!
Instead, it creates a plotlines stupid: traffic the V and a revenge to take Eric away of way of the “soulmates”.
Worse still all “moments E / S” which would define their relationship were “sliced”, separated and given to other characters, deliberately.

How the hell are Eric and Sookie ever going to get together on True Blood with Alan Ball’s latest Fan Fic version of Club Dead? I have a feeling this will be my last season of True Blood and the last season I will carry HBO. Things are going to need to change significantly to change my mind. I did not purchase season two and from the looks of it I will not be getting season three either.

I just said this on the forum, but I’ll mention it here too. I REALLY think that AB keeps saying the “Soulmate” shit because he knows it pisses off half his audience. He is laughing his ass off as we speak. It’s the old bait and switch. There’s all this Bill/Sookie build-up (yes, 3 seasons of the shit is a bit much), then BAM!, BL’s will be in tears as their epic love story is ripped out from under them. IT WILL HAPPEN. I HAVE TO BELIEVE THAT!
It won’t happen in season 4. I believe that we’ll see the hot fling with some feelings bared. Then what? Will she go back to Bill for a spell? Hook up with Alcide? Maybe Quinn will enter the picture. They will drag out the E/S story for season after season, like we had to endure book after book before they finally figured out that they loved each other.
Thanks SVB, I sneaked a peek at the blog at work and nearly leapt out of my chair. Couldn’t wait to get home to add my appreciation to the chorus.
I love the fact that AS can look so different in each shot, which makes it difficult to pick my favourite….
Okay, okay I’m going to go out on a limb here but… I’m not entirely bothered by the E/S relationship NOT panning out in the show. Why? It’s because I effin’ HATE True Blood Sookie. She’s just.. completely unworthy of Eric, a pale shade of Book Sookie – this past episode, I just cringed every time she opened her mouth; so horrible..I wish Anna Paquin would step up her game a bit because her lines sound so wooden and trashy. She makes it so you can’t even comprehend WHY all the men in the show are infatuated with her. It’s sad!
Plus I kind of liked the comment that Pam is his progeny, Sookie’s just an infatuation. True Blood Eric seems more loyal and driven to his vampire relationships (Godric, Pam…) and I enjoy it. He’s bigger than the whole damn show with his epic story line, ya know? I know its hard to separate book from show, but maybe focus on the sheer annoyance of Sookie and say, “..yah Eric, you can do MUCH better…”
And I agree with YieldtoMe, I guarantee AB is doing a lil’ dance for casting a clusterfuck bomb into the fan base..because lets be honest, people are TALKING
Done. I am finished with TrueBlood. It is hardly a coincidence that AB made his comments about Sookie & Bill being soulmates on the same weekend as episode 3×6. Last nights episode strayed so far from book canon it makes me sick. AB has been playing mind games with all of us, even those that are fans of Bill, and I am sick of it.
Ah yeah, you could say that I am more than a little irritated with the comments that AB and CH have recently made.

But honestly after seeing this week’s episode. I am filled with hope. Alan is always bullshitting and being a sly little bastard – he doesn’t believe in sappy love stories even if Sookie and Bill’s relationship has been portrayed that way for three seasons.
Honest to God, watching Episode 6 I know we won’t have to put up with Bill and Sookie’s vomit inducing relationship for much longer. The parallels are all there. This was particularly noticeable when Tara said to Sookie “You are being a fucking idiot!” which mirrors what Sookie said to her at the end of the last season when she delusionally ran after Eggs. There was Lorena’s little lecture to Bill about him being a self-pitying douche bag and how everything is her fault.
Sookie and Bill are definitely on a learing curve, especially Sookie, and their eyes are going to be opened to many things. Honestly, I’m REALLY REALLY OPTIMISTIC about the show going relatively the same way as the books and I really think Ball will shock us.
Let’s stop hating on the show and wait and see what happens rather than take into account what Alan Ball is saying and how characters are being portrayed. As Joe Manganiello said, everything is up in the air by S3′s end and I can’t wait. Roll on E7.

I can see straight through it, and I know it will be explained, but the blatant disregard of the STORYLINE still pisses me off no end.
My issue is that they have made the characters dumber and dumber since season 1. Everything has been catered to the relationship between Bill and Sookie, and as stated before the other characters has suffered for it. Even now when they are going through a “rough patch” it seems it will end up the same. Its a complete mess atm. I actually cringe when i hear Sookie talk and ofcourse Bill aswell >.< The love between Sookie and Bill is no longer believable for me, and spesialy Sookie who seem overly obsessed and acts like a complete idiot. Where is Sookie the hero? but she is totaly addicted to Bill. And the way the plot has played out it does not seem that this will change, anytime soon. Why should she go for anyone else? And do we want her to anymore? It has always been the hero Bill. Even though i feel Eric has actually tried to tell Sookie that she has to think more of herself. It has reached a point where i feel Sookie should just stay with Bill. The other romance options can do way better imo. I thought this would be about Sookie Stackhouse not Bill and Sookie ( the dumb version)Why call it True Blood at all, why not "Bill and Sookie the love story"? This is only my opinion of the show so far ofcourse.
