Paquin & Moyer Talk Season 4
March 2, 2011 in Awards, Bill, Sookie Stackhouse, True Blood, video
MTV caught up with Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer at the Vanity Fair post Oscars party – and proceeded to give them (as you do) the obligatory grilling about what we can expect from Sookie and Bill in Season 4.
Among the questions, they were asked where Sookie has gone…and whether we can expect to see Bill take on a “leadership” role in Season 4.

So what do you think he was going to say? “So that’s why you’re . . . .” I think he was about to say “wrong” LOL!
I think Moyer pretty much confirmed that Bill is taking on a leadership role this year. He did seem surprised that the interviewer knew this spoilery bit of info. Of course only the rabid fans are combing through the casting calls and piecing the puzzle together. So I can understand the surprise. So yeah looks like Bil is going to be in some position of power this year…sigh.
And it was kind of cute when he said “Sookie who..” and looked at AP with a grin…they do seem like a very happy couple.
Bill “no impulse control” Compton in a leadership position? This is going to be fun! You just know that he’s going to fuck it up. In an epic manner. And there’s no Lorena to blame this time around. Meanwhile, it’ll highligh by the means of contrast, that Eric is a kickass sheriff.
I’m with you, Lene.
You just know this has FAIL written all over it. He has zero impulse control, zero emotional control and Little Man Syndrome by the bucket load.
Putting people like this in leadership roles is doomed from the start. I have very little doubt this is going to be one big fuck up after another.
I agree. Bring it on. This season seems like its going to be exciting.
Of course, Bill as Sheriff will be a total fail – like Andy taking over for Bud, who had to step down b/c of the “gaps in his brain…”, etc. Bud=Eric, Andy=Bill
NICE.
Good one.
I love that parallel!
My only issue with this is that if Eric was out of commission, PAM would be the next reasonable replacement, right? So ostensibly, something has to happen to get Bill into his new position, whether it’s the position of sheriff, second-in-command, or (gag) King.
And if ANY of it traces back to Sophie-Anne dying– ESPECIALLY if BILL manages to kill her– I’m just going to be irritated. Because that’s WAY too easy… not to mention implausible.
lol You could tell by the end of the interview that Anna wanted to leave before they gave away too much.
(Also: In a perfect world, Bill WOULD consider Sookie passe and move on for good. Of course in the TB universe, I’m totally prepared for some speechifying, Compton-style pining.)
Well Stephen seemed surprised but that’s becouse people actually have read the books, so we rabids know what we’re talking about…. *sorry, end of the bitch mood*
He pretty much confirmed what we suspected: that Bill will have some kind of position of power.
I’m still on board with my Victor Madden theory. I really want AB to go there, to make Bill the TB Victor. It would be good for Bill’s character and really less boring IMO *fingers crossed*
i forgot to add that we are even able to read the casting calls and connect the dots lol
But sometimes i think they have no idea that the casting call are out….i don’t think they actually take notes of every casting calls out so they can answer without spoil to much lol
Yes I quite like the Victor Madden theory as well. I can so see Bill working for someone (yet to be discovered). I would also like to see Bill as a dastardly character getting more into vampire politics.
Nothing surprising. Bill was made sheriff of area 2 in Mississippi & in casting call it is said that Bill lords over 2 sheriffs.
Bill was offered Sheriff of area 2 in return for doing Russell’s bidding. But it never eventuated – Russell got the dirt from Franklin and used that to manipulate Bill instead.
Damn they are a cute couple
He was actually really surprised about that question, maybe only used to get B/S questions up until now.
I thought he would be in some position, but it won’t be the obvious, the King position IMO. There’s no way he’ll be made King even if he manages to kill QSA somehow miraculously. That’s a red herring.
He did seem surprised that the MTV interviewer asked him that….the MTV people must be as rabid as us if they’re deciphering casting calls LOL.
I don’t know. I actually don’t mind this idea. Whatever. Good for Billy boy.
SM is nothing like Bill, that’s for sure.
Bloody hell! Why couldn’t Bill just toddle off quietly to Peru. *sigh!* The thought of him in any sort of leadership role terrifies me, unless we are talking Bill = Victor, which, I, too, have suspected for some time.
IKR! Peru is a missed opportunity.
Tho I don’t really see Bill as a Victor type, rather I see him parading into town as the Queen’s ever faithful minion, taking up the vacant Sheriff spot lately of one Amnesia’d Eric. He could have some higher lordly rank, but I don’t think its necessary for him to be much more powerful than the local sheriff for him to be reeking havoc. I’d like for him to think he has power, I think that would be interesting.. and I hafta say I have no faith in him being successful at whichever position he is holding, for its all just going to come back and explode in his face. :evilsmiley:
I thought they looked really great together and I think was surprised by the question. I too wish Bill would be out of the picture but AB loves him.
Yeah AB loves the character of Bill. But I thinks he likes fucking with him most of all.
I’m not so optimistic, the hierarchy in the world of AB seems to be very “flexible”and “convenient” (as in the interest not to “marginalize” one of the main characters, it creates totally implausible storylines of a sudden, 1 – a vampire younger, lower in the hierarchy and “apparently” unsupported (that we know of) can occupy a place of authority in a supposedly politically organized society, with other vampires in a position of power (in two kingdoms!) and accept if subordinate to Bill.
In fact until now the spoilers for Bill seems to coincide with a wish list that I read on another site: 1 – Bill have some position of power, 2-a better relationship with Jessica, 3 – sookie do with jealousy in a “woman”more “socially superior (Portia)” blah blah blah
of course he will ruin everything, but will make us swallow our much vomit and angry until then.
And any spoilers Eric yet? It has to be “very” good for Eric for this season I go through all these stories that seem to fill the time in the series “sigh”
Why do we care so much what Bill’s doing though? I mean as long as he’s not with Sookie who cares? Id like him to have a good storyline since he’s a main character.
And I don’t think Eric will be subordinate to Eric. If he is out of commission it doesn’t really count in my eyes.
meant I don’t think *Eric will be subordinate to Bill. I think it will be something like the investigator job from book’s, or temporarily Eric’s sheriff position.
I agree, I just want Bill’s storyline to be interesting and compelling, since we know it’s going to take up a lot of screen time. I am actually really looking forward to seeing what they are going to do!
I can only speak for myself but I care what Bill does b/c it’s always going to affect Sookie in some way or be part of his ongoing efforts to get back into her good graces and bed.
And that makes me leery b/c even though we can all agree that her ever taking him back would make NO sense and would make her look like an idiot, it doesn’t mean that it won’t happen. I’ve been around the tv triangle mess enough times to know that nothing is impossible or even unlikely. If it serves the whims of the writers then that is all that matters.
Or maybe I’m just feeling exceptionally pessimistic today. But Bill being in ANY position of power or influence just grates.
I sure hope Bill’s story arc doesn’t end up feeling like it’s just to keep from marginalizing one of AB’s favorites. AB’s reading on my genius meter fluctuates wildly. If he wants to keep Bill around, he’d better come up with a good reason, and that reason better not succeed in keeping S/E apart.
The TB vampires might be highly politicized, as shown by the AVL and magister, but I have not gotten a sense they are logically organized along any kind of meritocracy or democracy. I get confused with the books, but seems like we only know KRE and QSA: one is bat-sh*t psycho and 3,000 years old. S2 QSA was such a vapid Hilton/Lohan clone that I still don’t see her as regal. Also, she is much younger than Book QSA or KRE. At this point, I begin to think one becomes king or queen on TB simply by being crazier or more eccentric than the competition. If “annoying” is a qualification, Bill is at the front of the line. But I do not see him as king material in any world.
I do not want to see Bill in a position of power because he will use it to cause trouble for S/E, but beyond that I don’t much care what he does.
Geez, I just read a thread on The Ancient Pythoness blog about vampire politics and kings. There’s a lot more to it than I remembered–I’d totally forgotten about the Post Mortem.
“Petrov: Of course. You see, these monarchs are not unlike many of the ones you’re familiar with history books. They either seize power for themselves, marry in to it or inherit it from their makers. They even behave much the same way. They tend to be petty, cruel and the most part unwise.”
I really need to rewatch S3. HBO needs to put it back on demand right now. Please….
I don’t think Bill will be King. Position of power doesn’t have to mean King, or that he’ll be bossing around Eric.
ITA. Maybe a second in command. Or a temporary sheriff. Definitely not king.. I mean, unless they don’t want us to be laughing our asses off the whole season.
For the life of me, I just can’t see Bill in a “leadership position.” Maybe something that makes him an asset and protects him (ala database) but leadership? We haven’t seen anyone in the Sookieverse yet who respects him enough to actually follow him . . . well, except for Sookie.
No big surprise as Bill desperately needs some power position otherwise he would not survive another day or night. I also don’t think he will be king. I’m even not sure if this power relates to a political position or something else as he seems to have some special abilities. If it’s the political power then he may work for the Authority or become sheriff or something similar to Victor or Sandy Sechrest.
They are really damn cute together and AP looks gorgeous in that color and I loved the dress and the shoes!!! 1000% improvement over the Golden Globes dress! Yeah, SM basically confirmed what we’ve all been thinking anyway, didn’t he, even though he tried to play it cool!
Anna did look gorgeous. I’m generally not a fan of her fashion choices so I usually shut my mouth…but she looks amazing in this.
She looks really good in red. Hehehe.
“That color suits you very well.”
hahaha LOVE IT!
She did look amazing. Loved the shoes too.
She does look nice here, very nice. Red is a good color for her. Hope she’ll be wearing it on the show. SM actually seemed surprised that the interviewer knew about the leadership thing.
I just have to say…so GLAD I’m no longer invested in this shit anymore.
Lol if you aren’t invested why are you visiting fansites?
I thinks the lady doth protest…
You’re so not invested you’re commenting here and at the Nest saying how much you’re not invested.
OKAY THEN.
