Deadlocked – #1 on the NYT Bestseller List
May 15, 2012 in Book 7 - All Together Dead, Deadlocked - Book 12
Some wonderful news for Charlaine Harris today, with the release of the New York Times Bestseller List for the week ending May 5, 2012.
Deadlocked has entered the hardcover fiction list as the top seller for the week. This continues an amazing run on the list, which has seen every Sookie book since All Together Dead (2007) debut in the top 10, and every book since Dead and Gone debut at number 1.
Congratulations Charlaine, this is a remarkable achievement and one to be proud of.
In other news, Ms Harris officially confirmed on Facebook today that the title of the final Sookie will be “Dead Ever After”, and the release date will be May 7, 2013.
Mark your calendars, pencil in some time off, and book an appointment with your shrink. Next May is going to be huge!

This is such awesome news! Congrats Charlaine, it is very well deserved for it was a great book!
Awesome news! Oh, and loving the title!
Wonderful news! Very glad to see that so many others enjoy these books along with us. Can’t wait for DEA in May, 2013!
This is great news and such a fabulous accomplishment.
I’m sure Dead Ever After will continue her streak.
Congrats, Charlaine.
This is a well deserved accolade! Congratulations to Charlaine!
And by my count we have 50 weeks till Dead Ever After!

I never doubted you for one minute Miss Harris! You’re the bomb, lady, the bomb!
Congratulations!
Looking forward to DEAD EVER AFTER – and all your future endeavours in writing AND in your new TV show on Syfy! *BIG GRIN*
Congratulations to Ms. Harris! It’s also remarkable considering that this is Book 12 of a 13 book series and it’s still making bestseller lists. That’s pretty awesome.
Congratulations to Charlaine Harris!! Loved Deadlocked and am looking forward to book 13! Dead Ever After will be bittersweet indeed! (sad to see the series end but so happy I discovered it!!) Again so happy the book is on the best seller list!
Congrats to CH, she deserves it.
This is so good to hear, and well deserved.
Now if only the ratings would go up. It’s so sad to see how some people just can’t see beyond the outer layers of the books (they are missing out big time, and it’s their loss). This series has made me think, not only about the characters and the story, but also about my own life, my choices and expectations, and the world around me. And this, for me, is what a really good book is all about.
But hey, if the sales provide her the financial security necessary to write the books she wants to write, I’m not complaining. Because then we get to read them.
Looking forward to DEA – it will be a long wait, but I understand quality just can’t be hurried.
Do you mean the ratings by readers, a la amazon.com?
Yes, a overall 3 out of 5 must be very disappointing, particularly from the largest bookseller in the world. I liked the book, but I do see the disappointed readers’ points. There is a great deal that could have been omitted and helped both the pace and character development. One of the first rules of romance is that you don’t keep the hero and the heroine far apart for long sections of your tale, and CH proves that the SVM are not romances by disregarding that rule pretty regularly (regardless of who you think the hero/antihero is). That eliminates a lot of very desirable interaction (sexual or otherwise), and you have to provide a pretty compelling alternative if you are not going to pay for that in terms of reader satisfaction. CH didn’t do it (the faeries never have) and she’s paying that price, IMO, in terms of ratings.
Most folks don’t buy a book exclusively to read the set up for the next/last book. We may be the exceptions.
Yes, those where the ratings I was referring to.
I agree with your POV DH87. It probably does have to do with expectations. People expecting a easy, light romance, are bound to be disappointed, aren’t they. But these books are so much more than that. I’m glad I’m not the only exception to see that.
May 7…why so long??? :p I can’t wait!
A huge congratulations to charlaine, wonderful news for her and so deserved!
Congratulations Charlaine!!! This is such a great news! I didn’t have any doubt though, because you’re great just like that!
I really loved Deadlocked!!! Can’t wait for the big finale now!!

Great news, you deserve it Charlaine! Congrats
Can’t wait for the last book, I love the title.
congrats to Charlaine – she deserves it. Bring on DEA !
That is such great news and very well deserved indeed, congratulations Charlaine! I absolutely loved Deadlocked and it was like having a breath of fresh air to meet Sookie again. Looking forward to DEA which I have a feeling that will be the cherry on top of all this wonderful adventure of Sookie’s life and growth. You are da bomb Charlaine
Congratulations to the maker of my favorite vampire, Eric Northman….
Great news! Congratulations to CH … it’s going to be a long year until DEA, cannot wait!
That’s wonderful news! Congratulations to Charlaine
! I really enjoyed Deadlocked soooo much – can’t wait for DEA next year!
Congratulations Charlaine!! I really enjoyed Deadlocked, glad to see it make #1!! Can’t wait for DEA!!
Huge achievement, due in part to the True Blood backwash (it’s no coincidence that this number-one run began with the TB era), but well deserved and d**ned difficult to do more than once, much less repeatedly.
She must have so much money….sigh…good for her. Looking forward to the final installment, I don’t know about any of you, but I may just shed a tear or two when I finish the last book. I’m going to miss Sookie.
Oh I’m gonna miss Sookie too but it’s time to end it *sigh* I love that these are the kind of books (for me) that can be reread multiple times without getting old.
Congratulations Charlaine! Great work, great books and thank you for giving me the second fictional character I’ve ever had a longstanding crush on..Eric Northman! (The first was Jaime Fraser from the Outlander series, Roger wasn’t so bad either.)This is going to be the longest and worst wait of the whole series and I promise to still be a fan even if Sookie settles for her best friend or God forbid, runs back to the arms of her rapist, creepy stalker, supposedly lovesick, icky neighbor The Mendacious Mr. Compton!
That’s great news. Congrats to CH!!! It is well desevered. I can’t wait for the last book to come out but I think 13 books is enough. We all can’t wait to get the book but it will be a bit sad when the books are done. I wait a year for it to come out and then finish the book in 2 or 3 days.
This is so well deserved. Thank you to CH aka the Maker for giving us 12 amazing books in this series. I’m already in post-Deadlocked withdrawal and can’t wait for DEA. It is gonna be a long year.
